Where Registry Records Appear

The CBI Colorado Convicted Sex Offender Search is available at https://apps.colorado.gov/apps/dps/sor/. The research notes that the registry page states it does not list all convicted sex offenders in Colorado. It excludes misdemeanor-only offenders and juvenile-adjudicated offenders from public posting. It also says records are updated hourly. Those limits are essential. A person absent from the registry may still have had a jail booking, court case, CDOC sentence, federal case, immigration issue, or non-public record.

The registry is included in this facility map because some released people have ongoing public registration duties after leaving jail, prison, parole, or probation. A registry entry may show community registration status, identifying information, and agency contact context, but it does not prove the exact Sedgwick County jail release date. For that, use the sheriff release record, Sedgwick Combined Court, CDOC offender search, VINE, BOP, or ICE depending on custody type.

Do not use the CBI registry as a broad released-inmate search. It is a specific public-safety registry with statutory posting categories. It does not replace a court disposition, booking release record, parole discharge, or federal release record. It also should not be treated as a current-custody roster; many registry entries relate to people living in the community.

How to Use the Registry

Search the official CBI registry when the person's offense and registration status make the registry relevant. Compare the result carefully and read any posted limitations. If the information appears incorrect, the research lists CBI Program Support at 303-239-4222 and CDPS.CBI.SOR@STATE.CO.US for questions or corrections. If the question is the person's release date from Sedgwick County jail, do not stop at the registry. Contact the sheriff and check the court docket.

2. Remember that the public registry does not list every convicted sex offender.
3. Use registry results only for qualifying registration status, not general jail release.
4. Use the sheriff, court, CDOC, BOP, ICE, or VINE for the custody record that matches the case.
5. Report suspected registry errors to CBI Program Support or the appropriate local registration agency.

If a Sedgwick County case is sealed, juvenile, restricted, dismissed, or outside the registry's public posting categories, a registry search may not return a public result. That absence is not proof that no case, no arrest, no release, or no registration obligation ever existed. It only means the public CBI registry did not show that person under the search performed.

The CBI registry page gives a specific correction channel. Use 303-239-4222 or CDPS.CBI.SOR@STATE.CO.US when registry information is believed incorrect. If the correction involves a Sedgwick County jail release time, start with the sheriff instead. If it involves a court disposition or sealing order, contact the court. If it involves CDOC custody or parole, contact CDOC. Registry corrections and release-record corrections are not the same process.

Because Sedgwick County does not publish a public jail roster or booking-photo feed in the research, users may be tempted to use registry photos or registry records as a substitute. That is not accurate. A registry entry can indicate a public registration record, but the sheriff and court remain the local sources for booking, release reason, bond, dismissal, sentence, transfer, or time-served information.

About the CBI Registry

The registry is a public offender registry, not a detention facility. It does not hold anyone, compute release dates, or show a county jail's release cadence. It may show people who are living in the community, under supervision, or otherwise subject to public registration. The page's hourly update statement helps explain why users may see recent changes, but it does not mean the registry is a complete real-time release feed for Sedgwick County or Colorado prisons.

Some registry records can remain visible after a sentence or custody period has ended because registration duties are separate from physical custody. Other records may not be public because of statutory categories, juvenile restrictions, misdemeanor-only exclusions, sealing, or other limits. Users should follow the official registry rules and avoid drawing broader release conclusions from a single result.

Registry Photos and Booking Photos

A registry photo is not the same thing as a Sedgwick County booking photo. Colorado also has a booking-photo statute, C.R.S. 24-72-305.5, that requires a requester to affirm that a booking photograph obtained from a custodian will not be posted on a pay-for-removal publication or website. In Sedgwick County, the research did not find a county booking-photo feed. A local booking photo, if available, would likely require a sheriff records request and custodian review.

Do not link to or endorse commercial mugshot-publishing or pay-for-removal sites. Use official photos only when they are subject-matched and official, such as a CBI registry record for registry status or a CDOC offender photo for a state prison record. A photo can help identify a record, but it does not by itself prove release date, sentence discharge, or current supervision status.

Registry Limits After Release

The registry should be used for public-record navigation, correction, and understanding registration status. It is not a release list, a jail roster, or proof that every sentence obligation has ended. It also should not be used to harass, threaten, or contact a person outside lawful channels. If a record is incomplete, delayed, or disputed, confirm with CBI, the local registering agency, the court, CDOC, or the sheriff depending on which source created the data.
